From Curiosity to Practice: My Journey into Digital Marketing in New York

About me
Hi, my name is Guanying Wang, from China. You can also call me Susan, or if you want something a bit closer, Susi. This is my first year in New York, and I’m very excited to study and live here.

I am currently studying Integrated Marketing at New York University. I became deeply interested in marketing during my undergraduate years.
To me, building and selling a product feels like creating a perfect piece of art. I am passionate about using my efforts to help more people fall in love with the things I recommend. While I was in China, I also tried running social media accounts and became a small influencer, mainly sharing recommendations about food, fashion, and lifestyle.
About my blog
Although this blog is a course assignment for my Digital Marketing class, I hope to extend it into my personal website and continue updating it over time.
Regarding the content of this blog:
I’m currently working on a product in testing called Founder News, which curates high-signal AI and SaaS updates for founders. It filters daily information into decision-relevant insights, highlighting what matters and what can be ignored. I’ll continue sharing updates related to AI founders, and you’re welcome to take a look.
So, I would love to create a dedicated series to share useful AI tools that can be applied to work and study to improve efficiency.
I will also open a separate section for marketing insights and opinion pieces.
At the same time, because I am always passionate about life, I hope that in the future—perhaps after this course ends—I can launch another series recommending interesting small shops in New York, including food, clothing, jewelry, and more. I hope that when you read my blog, you can feel that it is both useful and fun.
My thoughts
At present, I believe digital marketing gives us an opportunity to connect with consumers through online platforms in ways that are broader in reach and more engaging. It focuses on understanding customer needs, delivering relevant content, and measuring results in real time.
Today, digital marketing is extremely important because it shapes how consumers discover brands, evaluate them, and interact with them.
As for this digital marketing course, I think it offers me a great opportunity to learn how to build a personal website and motivates me to write down my thoughts. Through this course, I hope to learn how to better connect with my readers. What I look forward to most is gaining a systematic understanding of how different digital marketing channels work together effectively, and learning how to use data to evaluate marketing performance rather than relying solely on intuition.
At the same time, I hope to apply the theories learned in class to real situations through case studies and practical assignments. For me, the most important takeaway is not simply completing the assignments themselves, but being able to clearly explain—by the end of the course—why I made certain decisions and whether those decisions were effective.
